Context of Job
Beaufort Support Service Ltd is a staffing agency which specialises in supplying support staff to children's homes, social services departments and schools. Child and Adolescent Support Workers assist professional staff teams to provide quality care to meet the needs of children and young people.
This job description sets out the main duties of the post at the date when it was drawn up. Key Outcomes of Job
- When called upon to work as a member of a professional staff team you would be expected to contribute to the effective and efficient running of the organisation in line with relevant legislation, policy and procedures and instruction from senior staff.
- To assist the organisations staff in maintaining good standards of care and control within a warm and accepting environment, and to follow advice and guidance laid down in The Children Act (1989) and the National Minimum Care Standards (2001).
- Implement a framework for prevention and management of individuals' behaviour.
- To assist the staff in maintaining the home in good condition.
- To assist the staff in ensuring the safety of residents at all times.
- To assist the staff in ensuring the security of the contents of the home, including confidential records, cash, keys, furniture and equipment, clothing and children's possessions.
- To assist the staff in attending to the health of the children and maintaining high standards of hygiene.
- To assist the staff in encouraging children to follow their own religion and cultural beliefs.
- To organise and be involved in such extra curricular activities that are in the interest of the children and young people as necessary, and as directed.
- To work with children and young people according to the individual child's needs, and assist in providing focused work as planned and directed.
- To assist the staff in carrying out the home's administration (re: Children's records).

Experience/Qualifications
Essential
- Experience of working with children and young people who have complex needs and exhibit emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Educated to GCSE standard
Desirable
- Professional qualification in Social Work.
- NVQ3 Children and Young People (or willing to undertake)
- More than 1 year experience of working with children and young people in a variety of settings.
